Public relations is the lifeblood of any organization. The American Legion is no exception. We must tell the world, our community, and our local press "What We Do."

Success Requires Vision

As a Public Relations volunteer you must be committed to telling The American Legion story. To tell The American Legion story you must know where our great organization is going.

The American Legion has a vision:

The American Legion is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization founded on the values, contributions and sacrifices of those who answered the nation's call to arms; therefore, we must:

	Respond to quality of life needs of all veterans and their families;
	Prepare each generation to meet its citizenship obligations;
	Maintain a strong national defense;
	Perpetuate the principles of government embodied in the United States Constitution;
	Be a values-based organization committed to serving God, country, community and every veteran today, tomorrow and throughout the 21^stCentury.

Public Relations Commission has a mission:

To coordinate and supervise National Committee activity in publicizing the work of The American Legion and in properly positioning The American Legion before the public.

Public Relations Commission/staff has a vision:

We are dedicated to fostering the philosophies and programs of The American Legion by:

	Preserving the memories and promoting recognition of the contributions of veterans to the nation.
	Encouraging military service and patriotic values.
	Serving as the voice of veterans.
	Influencing the nation's media on issues affecting veterans and, where appropriate, commending or correcting.
	Enhancing public perception of The American Legion, America's veterans and their families.
